Over the years, we have received several hundreds of testimonials and appreciation letters from clients. It warms our hearts and spurs us to continue fighting for justice for our clients who face criminal prosecutions.
Regent Law LLC is a full-fledged criminal law practice with dedicated criminal defence lawyers (including an ex-prosecutor) in its team. We cover all areas of criminal law and undertake every aspect of investigatory and procedural work. We are client-focused and aggressive. We have been around for nearly 10 years and have served more than 5000 clients.
When clients are under investigations or face prosecution, they are often at a loss, feeling vulnerable, uninformed and desperate and we understand that. We walk them through every step of the way and ensure that we fight for their rights.
At Regent Law, we are not just lawyers; we are strategists too. Putting together a formidable and effective defence strategy is a complex exercise that requires planning, foresight and most importantly, experience. We thrive on mounting a vigorous defence for our clients accused of crimes they do not admit to.
As lawyers who care for our clients, we do not judge them no matter what the crime. Our duty is to come up with a vigorous defence strategy for the crime they are accused of, or in the case of clients who have admitted to their crimes, we try to get the best possible outcomes for them, either through negotiations with the public prosecutor or by arguing it out in the courts. For this reason, our lawyers take their legal responsibility seriously and never compromise on quality.
Send us your enquiry and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Strictly private and confidential.
Under section 21 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the investigation officer can compel your attendance and you must attend. If you fail to attend, a warrant can be issued against you.
Under section 22(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code, you need not say anything that may expose you to a criminal charge. That does not mean you can lie to the investigation officer. Under the law, you are to state the truth and if you feel that anything you say may incriminate you, it is better not to say anything at all. Remember, it’s the police/prosecution that has to prove its case against you.
We strongly suggest you consult a lawyer as soon as you are called up by the police or other enforcement agencies like MOM, ICA, LTA etc. If you are not able to consult a lawyer before seeing the investigation officer, we suggest you do it straight after. It does make a difference as the lawyers will be able to intervene by making pre-charge representations on your behalf to mitigate or rebut depending on the evidence. Favourable outcomes such as being administered a stern or conditional warning, reduction of charges, or even getting a no further action (NFA) are possible.
If you are served a charge, you will be produced in court sooner or later. We suggest you see a lawyer as soon as possible to know your rights.
